Which channel you use changes what happens to your message. This page says where each one goes, who can use it, and what we can and cannot do with it.
You can do these yourself, right now — no need to write to us
1. Your data and your privacy
Who can use it: Anyone, with or without an account.
Use the Privacy Request Form to ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or export your personal data. You can also write to [email protected].
The form sends your request to our privacy inbox and emails a confirmation to the address you gave. We aim to respond within 30 days. Because a request sent from a public form does not prove who you are, we verify that it comes from the account holder before we hand over or delete anything — signing in first makes that faster.
The form itself does not delete or export anything. It passes your request to a person.
2. Reporting content on Read Pulse
Who can use it: Signed-in members.
Use the Report button on the content itself rather than email. It is available on stories, comments, reviews, theories, theory replies, lore notes and profiles, and it puts your report in front of a moderator with a link straight to the thing you reported.
Individual chapters and uploaded images cannot be reported with that button yet. For those two, email is the right route — see the copyright section below for infringement, or [email protected] for anything else, and give us the exact URL.
Reporting the same thing twice does not add anything; you cannot report your own content. A moderator looks at reported content before anything happens to it.
3. Copyright or trademark infringement
Who can use it: Anyone. You do not need an account.
Email [email protected]. This address exists separately from the others precisely because reporting from inside the app requires an account, and a rights holder who is not a member of Read Pulse needs a way in.
We need all five of these before we can act:
- The work you own, and where it was first published
- The exact URL on Read Pulse of each item you say infringes it — the chapter URL for a chapter, the image URL for an image
- Your name, an email address we can reply to, and who you are acting for
- A statement that you believe in good faith that this use is not authorised by the rights holder, their agent, or the law
- A statement that the information you have given is accurate, and that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act for them
Email arrives in a mailbox, not in our moderation queue, so it is handled by hand. Please send one email per complaint rather than following up on the same thread. Our Copyright & Intellectual Property page sets out what happens next, including what we can and cannot take down.
4. Appealing a moderation decision
Who can use it: The account the action was taken on.
Appeals do not go by email — they go through Settings → Moderation, where the action, the reason we gave and the appeal form sit together.
You have 90 days from the action to appeal it, once per action, in 20 to 2,000 characters. If we accept your appeal the action is reversed: hidden or removed content is restored, and a suspended account is reinstated.
5. Security problems
Who can use it: Anyone.
If you believe you have found a security problem, please tell us at [email protected] before disclosing it publicly. Include enough detail for us to reproduce it. Please do not test against other people’s accounts or data.
6. Anything else
Who can use it: Anyone.
For questions about these rules, about your account, or about something that does not fit above, use the message form at the top of this page or write to [email protected]. Both reach the same ordinary mailbox, not a ticket system, and we do not publish a response time for it.
What to expect
- Privacy requests: we aim to respond within 30 days, and you get a confirmation email straight away.
- Everything else: we read and act on messages by hand, and we do not publish a response time we cannot keep.
- We will never ask you for your password. Do not put passwords or payment details in a message to us.
- If we take a moderation action against your content or account, we always tell you what we did and why, by notification and by email. You cannot turn those off.
